The much anticipated Arikeade Foundation community event, the Teen/Youth Hangout, was held at the Meadowvale Community Center in Mississauga, Ontario. It turned out to be a resounding success, featuring an array of esteemed speakers who inspired and educated the excited young audience.

Speeches were made by Michael Okolie, Director of IT and Business Operations at NASCI, who provided valuable insights into the world of Information Technology; Anthony Rea, a passionate mental health advocate and student at Centennial College, who spoke on the importance of mental health and well-being, and Shelly Scott-England, Chairperson of the Black Caucus Alliance in Mississauga and former Senior Education Administrator with the Government of Jamaica, who shared essential leadership development tips.
Other speakers included Peace Anyira, founder of Global Impact Empowerment Hub and Girls Time Out, who offered advice on project management and discussed her advocacy for change and empowerment; Peter Grant from the Peel Regional Police, the second largest municipal police service in Ontario, who addressed the importance of community safety and engagement.
Gerald Adad and Iram Zaidi from Safe City Mississauga, spoke on their vision to empower individuals to play a role in preventing crime in their communities; while Gbolahan Salami, Executive Director at Experior, shared his expertise in wealth planning, life, health, business and commercial insurance, and retirement planning.
The event saw an impressive attendance from African and Canadian communities. Attendees enjoyed assorted gifts, including bags, water bottles, and gift cards, along with plenty of food and drinks, courtesy of the organiser. The atmosphere was filled with fun and excitement, leaving everyone eager to witness the next event.
The founder of Arikeade Foundation, Adeola Ajayi Erinle, said she was proud to have hosted such an enriching and enjoyable event, and looked forward to continuing to empower and nurture young minds in the community.
She told Daily Sun: “The event was organised to inspire children and youths to believe in themselves and their abilities, encouraging them to set goals and work hard to achieve them.”
