From Paul Orude, Bauchi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the name and personal particulars of Senator Shehu Buba Umar as the governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.
INEC also published the name of his running mate, alongside those of the PRP candidates contesting seats in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
The publication, carried out in accordance with Section 29(3) of the 2026 Electoral Act, brings clarity to recent controversies over the authenticity of the PRP governorship ticket and the candidacies of the party’s deputy governorship and State Assembly candidates in the state.
Reacting to the development, Umar described the publication as an important milestone for the PRP, saying the electoral commission’s confirmation had finally provided certainty to the party and its supporters ahead of the 2027 elections.
