The Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration for the landmark approval and rollout of affordable kidney dialysis treatment across federal medical centers and teaching hospitals nationwide.
This decisive intervention, which reduces the cost of dialysis sessions from as high as ₦50,000 to ₦12,000 in designated facilities, represents a significant step in alleviating the financial burden on Nigerians living with kidney disease. It directly aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s commitment to expanding access to essential healthcare and addressing the nation’s rising burden of non-communicable diseases.
HFN recognizes the courage and responsiveness demonstrated by the Federal Government in prioritizing kidney health—a challenge that affects tens of thousands of Nigerians who require life-sustaining dialysis multiple times weekly. By subsidizing treatment, the government will not only save countless families from catastrophic expenses but also offer renewed hope for improved survival outcomes and reduced treatment abandonment.
