From Jude Chinedu, Enugu
An NGO, Helpers Social Development Foundation (HSDF) has assisted a teacher, Stella Beneath, to realize her lifelong dream of owning a school by sponsoring the establishment of a primary school in Amagu, Akpugo-Eze community, Oji River Local Government Area, of Enugu State.
The school known as Lugard Citadel Nursery and Primary School is expected to reduce the number of out-of-school children by providing access to quality education for every child in the community.
The co-founder and chairman of the foundation, Okeke Chinwendu, said that sponsoring the establishment of the school will trickle down to improving the quality of education available for indigent children in the community.
He said that the passion to raise and train kids which they noticed in Mrs Beneath gave them the motivation to venture into sponsoring the project.
“The organization chose to sponsor Mrs. Beneath to help her achieve her dream, vision of reaching out to the less privileged and unreached orphans in and around this community.
“We are here to officially open the School which will help the orphans and less privileged children within this area get access to education notwithstanding the effect of financial challenges lingering in the country.
While appreciating the foundation, Stella Beneath, assured that she will invest all her energy, passion and experience she had garnered over the years to ensure that the children left in her care get the best standard of education and good morals.
“I assure you that the first students will make others come here. I worked for people in other schools, but today I am proud that I am now a proprietress.
“I am so proud, all thanks to the Helpers Foundation. So, as I want to retire here, I will make sure the school becomes the best by the grace of God.”
