Succour came the way of some vulnerable persons including widows in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State where a non-governmental organisation, Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation distributed food items and empowerment materials to over 200 beneficiaries.

Items presented to the beneficiaries included bags of rice, grinding machine, bags of salts, tomatoes and cash gift worth over N800,000.00.

Distributing the items in Ubulu-Uku, founder of the NGO, Mrs. Isioma Oghorada said the gesture was to cushion the impact of the current hardship being experienced across Nigeria.

Representing by the coordinator, Mrs. Faith Osadebey, Mrs. Oghorada said the foundation will continue to strive to help people attain their potentials.

According to her, the foundation has a responsibility to create platforms for promoting acquisition of formal and informal education for children, youths and women, as well as defend the rights of the vulnerable, rehabilitation of relevant institutions and other interventions towards the protection and restoration of the right and dignity of the targeted demography.

She congratulated Nigerian women on this year’s International Women Day with the theme: ‘Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress,’ saying that it was a reminder of the indispensable role women play in advancing educational outcomes and in driving social progress.

“The International women’s day serves as a reminder to all women that you can break barriers and accelerate equal opportunities for all women. It is the day our voices need to be heard, our journey in achieving this is to give focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive right, violence and abuse against women.

“In essence, our collective endeavours to advance education must be guided by a commitment to equality and sustainability. By investing in woman’s education and empowerment, we not only amplify their voices, but also pave way to transformational change on a global scale,” she added.

Two of the beneficiaries, Comfort Emordi and Isioma Dibiagwu who spoke on behalf of others, expressed happiness and satisfaction for the various items received.
