To cushion economic hardship, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Ndudi Elumelu has drummed up support for grassroots empowerment.
He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots support and sustainable community development as 300 constituents benefited from an empowerment scheme in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Elumelu stressed the need for continued support for grassroots communities, noting that meaningful development must translate into tangible opportunities that improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Area, Nneka Clara Dibia, said Elumelu’s presence at the event underscored the growing emphasis on initiatives that equip citizens with opportunities to improve their livelihoods and achieve greater economic independence.
According to Dibia, the presence of community members and stakeholders demonstrated the importance of investing in people as a catalyst for sustainable development.
She noted that the empowerment of 300 beneficiaries represented a significant intervention aimed at strengthening household livelihoods, promoting self-reliance and encouraging economic participation across Aniocha North.
She stressed the importance of collaboration between political leaders and grassroots institutions in addressing economic challenges and creating sustainable opportunities for constituents.
“The event was widely seen as a practical demonstration of people-centred leadership, with beneficiaries expressing appreciation for the initiative and its potential impact on their livelihoods.
“As Aniocha North continues to pursue grassroots development, the message from the programme was unmistakable: sustainable development begins with empowering the people,” she said.
