Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho is not under any pressure to replace suspended Sergio Aguero.
Aguero has been slapped a four-match ban for his dangerous lunge at David Luiz of Chelsea in a Premier League clash at the weekend.
“There is no pressure on Kelechi Iheanacho, he just has to do his job,” Guardiola maintained.
The 20-year-old Iheanacho has responded immediately by scoring City’s equaliser in Tuesday night’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Celtic.
“I have the responsibility now to be the striker in the team and replace Sergio for four games,” he said.
“They [Celtic] are a good side with quality players and we are pleased to get a draw.
“It wasn’t the result we wanted but we are pleased. We responded well to going behind and I am pleased to score.”
