A support group, SOLUDERO VANGUARD has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Hon. Rotimi Makinde for a ministerial appointment in his cabinet.
It would be recalled that Makinde, a former Federal lawmaker who represented Ife Federal Constituency was among other notable titans who started South West Agenda ’23 (SWAGA) in year 2020.
It is also on record that SWAGA ’23 an independent grassroots political mobilizing machinery stood firmly behind Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (now President) throughout his campaign in Edo, Rivers and other South South states of the country.
The appeal for Makinde’s ministerial consideration was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, June 15, 2023 by the conveners of SOLUDERO VANGUARD, and jointly signed by Mr Tobi Abuah and Hon Oni Kolawole.
The group begged President Tinubu to fulfill his campaign promise of constituting a cabinet that would accommodate active youths, technocrats and those who share in the dreams of prosperous Nigeria and renewed hope as contained in his manifesto.
According to the group, they asked the President to engage Rotimi Makinde in view of his track records in Oil and Gas industry, an accountant, goal getter and technocrat par excellence, having worked in NNPC merritoriously for solid 20 years with many positive and illustrious milestones coupled with his sound legislative experience, more so as a welfarist well grounded to reposition APC in Osun State.
The group further emphasized that in the 7th National Assembly Makinde proved his mettle, describing him as a consistent loyal party man with detribalized outlook for a greater Nigeria. It also acknowledged his penchant for establishing contacts with Nigerian youths for capacity building and human capital development.
The statement noted: “As the 16th Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has started hitting the ground running immediately after his inauguration, SOLUDERO VANGUARD wishes to state that we are mindful of the fact that our president is a man of wisdom and great insight, we sincerely wish him success in this journey.
“However, the need to make the right choice by appointing a competent personality that would sustain Mr President’s development goals for effective service delivery can never be over emphasized in this critical moment of our nation, therefore round pegs must accordingly be kept in round holes.
“As Tinubu promised during his campaign and well written in his manifesto that he will uphold meritocracy in his cabinet, it is our wish to recommend the nomination of Hon. Rotimi Makinde as designate minister in lieu of his vast knowledge and experience in National Assembly, his impactful socio-economic empowerments for his constituents, quality representation in terms of debates, presentation of Bills, Motions, the roles he played at SWAGA ’23 alongside other titans and his ability to positively mobilize and engage the Nigerian youths.
“Rotimi Makinde has etched his name in the sands of time. He is a believer of securing the nation to avoid having ripple effects on its economic stability. He is an accountant who knows his onions, a goal getter and technocrats par excellence. Before going into politics he had worked in NNPC merritoriously for solid 20 years with many positive and illustrious milestones.
“In view of his track records and ever readiness to employ his ingenious disposition to any assignment given to him, he will make a good cabinet member under this current dispensation. He is skillful; a prolific politician whose oratory, power of conviction and persuasion are capable of achieving target goals and unlocking opportunities, a quality for which he is rarely appreciated for.
“Also, he is intelligent, smart and organically connected to the people and institutions of government. These attributes make him the tailor-made cabinet member to Tinubu, the sixth Executive President of Nigeria.” the group stated.
