From Stanley Uzoaru,Owerri
The President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Felix Ekundayo Adedokun, is expected in Owerri the Imo State capital on October,19 to kick off the annual xmas celebration otherwise known as freedom day by the church.
Publicity secretary of the church,Ogochukwu Oriaku who briefed journalists on other activities lined up for the ceremony in Owerri on Friday , disclosed that there would be musical performances, fervent prayers, and special thanksgiving to God, while the main sermons he added will include an address by the GKS President titled “The Just Shall Live by Faith” and a doctrinal message titled “Was Christ Born on Christmas Day?”
Oriaku insisting on why Christmas should be celebrated in October rather December the widely accepted date said “Counting Mary’s pregnancy from January, as revealed in Elizabeth’s declaration in Luke 1:41–44, we arrive at September as the ninth month, and then in the tenth month,October Jesus Christ was born.”
He explained further, “while the exact day in October remains unknown, we of the GKS say only what we can prove,” referencing John 3:11 and Deuteronomy 29:29.
Oriaku buttressed his claims arguing that “the climate in Palestine in December is too cold for shepherds to be tending flocks outdoors at night, as described in Luke 2:8–14. Supporting this.
He referenced Jeremiah 36:22 (Living Bible), noting that December falls within the winter season.
He also added “Christ lived for 33½ years, If his birth had occurred in December, his death would have fallen around June, not April. But Easter is celebrated in April, which corresponds to six months after October, supporting the October birth timeline.
” The GKS has consistently celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ in October since its founding in 1934 by Saint Gideon M. Urhobo. The annual celebration, known as “Freedom Day”, commemorates the birth of Christ and the liberation of humanity through his teachings and sacrifice”. Oriaku explained.
