A new digital identity platform, NativeID, has been launched to help Nigerian businesses protect themselves from impersonation and online fraud while making it easier for customers to find and verify their contact details.

The platform provides businesses with a free, verified digital identity page that consolidates multiple contact channels into a single link, helping eliminate confusion created by scattered information across different social media platforms.

Industry observers say many Nigerian businesses lose potential customers not because of poor products or services but due to the difficulty customers face locating the correct contact details online.

NativeID seeks to address this problem by creating a single, structured identity page that brings together all essential business information in one place.

For many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), traditional business cards have long served as a trusted way to share contact information. However, in today’s digital environment where paper cards can easily be misplaced, experts say businesses increasingly require a more reliable digital solution.

The platform comes at a time when Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy has also seen a rise in social media impersonation and online scams, particularly on platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp where fake accounts often mimic legitimate businesses.

Product Manager at NativeID, Esther Ukachi, said fragmented digital identities have become a major vulnerability for businesses.

“Imagine a customer trying to reach a business and finding one phone number on Instagram, another on a flyer and a different address on Google Business Profile,” she said.

“Sometimes they even see several social media accounts with the same business name, making it difficult to identify which one is genuine and which is run by scammers.”

Ukachi noted that the challenge is not necessarily a lack of demand or poor product quality but rather the difficulty customers face verifying the correct business identity.

“The issue is not even marketing or visibility. The problem is access to the right business identity,” she said.

“Across Nigeria and beyond, many businesses still share their identity in pieces across chats and bios. As their teams grow, this fragmentation creates confusion, delays and ultimately lost trust.”

To address this challenge, NativeID provides a range of tools designed to simplify business verification and customer access.

These include a single shareable link that replaces multiple “link in bio” addresses, QR code integration that allows customers to instantly scan and access a company’s digital identity page, and direct action buttons that enable users to quickly call, email or visit a business website.

The platform also allows businesses with multiple branches to list all their locations on one digital profile, making it easier for customers to identify legitimate outlets.

According to the developers, NativeID is designed to serve as a foundational identity layer for modern businesses, helping professionals maintain a trusted and organised digital presence.

Experts noted that in an era where a single negative experience can quickly lead to accusations of scams on social media, having a verified and structured online identity is increasingly becoming essential for businesses.

The platform is currently free for both individuals and companies, with users able to create their digital identity pages in less than two minutes.
