The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to a nationwide and inclusive transportation development plan designed to ensure no region is excluded from national progress.

Minister of Transportation Said Ahmed Alkali gave this assurance while speaking as guest of honour at the 2025 Kaltungo Cultural Carnival Celebration in Gombe State.

Alkali emphasised that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, the administration is dedicated to inclusive growth and national integration, with the transport sector serving as a critical driver.

“The Federal Ministry of Transportation continues to prioritise the expansion and modernisation of transport infrastructure across the country through railways and construction of bus terminals to ensure that no region is left behind,” Alkali stated.

He explained that enhanced connectivity is pivotal for unlocking economic opportunities, particularly for rural and agrarian communities. The minister highlighted that towns like Kaltungo stand to benefit significantly from improved transport links, which will boost agricultural value chains, commerce and tourism.

Alkali, a son of Gombe State, praised the Kaltungo community for its rich heritage, peaceful coexistence and collective efforts in grassroots development, which complement government initiatives. He urged the youths to actively engage with emerging opportunities in agriculture, transport and entrepreneurship to drive sustainable progress.

On his part, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, emphasised the importance of tradition, noting that many of today’s challenges stem from the erosion of cultural values among the younger generation.

He argued that the loss of tradition has contributed to social problems such as drug abuse, as young people have strayed from accepted moral standards.

The deputy governor called on parents and elders to actively teach children traditional values, discipline and moral responsibility.
