The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has charged Muslim faithful in the country to continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country.
Kalu, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the event.
According to the statement, the Deputy Speaker “described Eid-el-Maulud as an important occasion for reflection on the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, especially his virtues of humility, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.”
He implored Muslims to draw inspiration from these values and demonstrate them in their daily lives by showing love, kindness and understanding to one another.
Furthermore Kalu urged Nigerians to support efforts aimed at strengthening national unity, peace and development, noting that the country’s progress requires the contributions and goodwill of citizens irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences.
