The Football Coaches Association of African Nations (FCAAN) is set to train 2000 grassroots coaches free of charge across Nigeria.
This initiative is part of FCAAN’s efforts to promote coaching education and equip coaches with the requisite knowledge and skills to develop budding footballers.
The training programme, which will focus on the elementary and foundation F-course, will benefit 250 grassroots coaches across the 5 Divisional Football Associations in Lagos State and will subsequently be rolled out to other states across the nation. The program is scheduled to commence in June 2025.
This development comes on the heels of FCAAN President, Dr. Terry Babatunde Eguaoje, receiving two prestigious awards from the Edo State Football Association and Sportsville for his outstanding contributions to football development in Nigeria. Dr. Eguaoje expressed his gratitude, stating that getting recognized in a clime where little or nothing is done to recognize or reward efforts means so much to him.
FCAAN CEO Danny Nazzal explained that the exercise is designed to encourage more coaches to understand the importance of coaching education and embrace it for self-growth. “We want to help coaches acquire the right knowledge and skills to develop young players.” he said.
As the Head of Coaching Education at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Eguaoje’s initiative is a testament to his passion for developing football in Nigeria. This program further solidifies FCAAN’s commitment to giving back to the society and promoting the beautiful game in Nigeria.
