The race to Little Rayfield, seat of government in Plateau State, is becoming fiercer as a former governorship aspirant in the 2023 election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sunday Garba Biggs, has announced his resignation from the party.

Biggs, who is the Mwaghavwul tribe as Governor Caleb Mutfwang, is set to contest the governorship of another party, which he’s yet to name.

In a resignation letter to the Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Mangu Ward Il in Mangu local government area of Plateau state, Biggs, who is the Convener: ‘Bigg Things Coming 2027 Movement’,  said that he has realised that his aspiration to govern Plateau in 2027 cannot be realised under the present arrangement. The letter dated  April 2 2026, reads, “I write to formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective immediately.

“This decision was not taken lightly, having been a committed and active member of the party for over four years. During this period, I had the privilege of serving the party in various capacities, including offering myself as a

Gubernatorial Aspirant in 2022, alongside many other responsibilities aimed at advancing the party’s ideals and strengthening its structures across the state.

“However, in view of the current political realignments across the country and

after deep personal reflection, I have resolved to take a different path in pursuit of my political aspirations and in alignment with my convictions regarding the evolving national landscape.

“I remain grateful for the opportunities, support, and relationships I built during my time in the party. I deeply appreciate the cooperation of leaders,. stakeholders, and fellow members who contributed to the journey thus far.

“While I take this step. I wish the party continued success in its future endeavours and in its contributions to the democratic development of our dear nation, Nigeria. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.” Political watchers see the present moves as a serious contender to Mutfwang’s second term bid as Biggs is seen as a formidable opponent coming from the same Mwaghavwul tribe in Mangu local government, just as the incumbent governor.
