Everton walloped Chelsea 3-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, moving into seventh place in the Premier League and piling further pressure on Blues manager Liam Rosenior.
Beto scored twice for the Toffees, with Iliman Ndiaye adding a stunning third as Everton claimed back-to-back home league wins at their new stadium for the first time this season.
Chelsea, who suffered a second successive defeat, remain sixth but are now just two points above their opponents and on the fringes of the Champions League places.
The hosts took control after a cagey opening, breaking the deadlock in the 33rd minute when James Garner threaded a pass through to Beto, who raced clear of the Chelsea defence and dinked the ball over goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Jordan Pickford kept Everton’s lead with a string of fine saves, including a spectacular fingertip stop to deny Enzo Fernández on the hour mark – the Argentine midfielder having earlier been thwarted from a corner.
Pickford’s efforts marked his 100th clean sheet for the club.
