Liverpool has now created a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings after a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.
Nottingham Forest defeated Brighton 7-0 at the Forest Ground in the day’s opening game, moving them into joint second place with Arsenal.
With both sides just six points apart, the Reds knew they needed to overcome the in-form Cherries to increase their lead.
They took the lead in the first half when Cody Gakpo was tripped inside the box.
Mohamed Salah stepped up to convert the penalty, scoring his 20th league goal of the season.
The Egyptian then curled in a casual second in the second half.
Bournemouth gave their best. They struck the crossbar twice, had a goal disallowed, and missed an open goal through Justin Kluivert.
But the story of Liverpool’s season is that they appear to find a way to win.
