From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja
The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Bright Enabulele, has promised to replicate the legacies of former Bendel State governor, late Ambrose Alli, if elected as governor.
Enabulele, who stated this, at a press briefing, in Abuja, expressed dismay that 41 years, after Alli’s tenure, Edo State, which was created from the defunct Bendel State was still in search of leader with passion for development, like the former governor.
He promised that if elected governor he would give priority to education, healthcare, rural development, infrastructure, employment and empowerment and security.
According to him, “Professor Ambrose Ali was not just a leader, he was someone that prioritised the well-being of the people above all else. His vision encompassed fundamental pillars such as free education, accessible healthcare, and thriving rural communities. These were not just promises but the very essence of his governance.
“Sadly, 41 years have passed since Prof. Ali’s leadership, and Edo State is still searching for a leader who embodies the same dedication and care for the people. Our state deserves a leader who will uphold these values and translate them into tangible improvements in the lives of everyone.
“It is with this deep sense of responsibility and commitment to our people that I am also in the race. We are not just a political entity seeking power; we are a movement driven by the spirit of Prof. Ambrose Ali’s legacy.
“We believe that every child deserves access to quality education, every family deserves access to healthcare, and every community deserves to thrive.
“Like Prof. Alli did, we are presenting our campaign promises and creating a brighter future for all residents of our great state.”
Enabulele added that “building on Professor Alli’s legacy, our great party will ensure free, qualitative education at all levels. We will empower our teachers, invest in infrastructure, and equip our students with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.
“We will ensure access to affordable, quality healthcare for all Edo citizens. We will invest in hospitals, clinics, state-of-art facilities, and medical personnel, making sure everyone receives the care they deserve.
“We will revitalise our rural communities through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, and job creation. Our focus will be on sustainable, mechanised farming that empowers our people and feeds our state.”
