Eclora Couture made a striking statement at the 2024 NAFEST Fashion Swag Show held on November 26th in the Amphitheatre, NCAC Arts & Crafts Village, Abuja.
The show, a major highlight of the festival organised by the National Council for Arts and Culture, celebrated the intersection of cultural heritage and modern fashion, and Eclora Couture did not disappoint.
The brand owned by Mercy Ietoyin Njama showcased its signature style with an array of stunning designs that epitomises the intersection of heritage and modernity. The pieces on show were lively and bold, reflecting a strong appreciation for traditional attire while appealing to the modern fashionistas.
One of the standout design featured was an emerald-green gown adorned made from local fabric called aso-oke which included intricate beading and a sharp outline. The puffed shoulders and sleek, sculpted fit exemplified the fusion of classic elegance with a modern twist. The model’s bold afro hairstyle perfectly complemented the gown’s sophisticated allure, highlighting a regal, empowered aesthetic.
Another showstopper was a richly textured striped apparel in gradients of blue and red. Featuring a tailored bodice and traditional handwoven fabrics, this piece married heritage craftsmanship with contemporary fashion. The structured design paired with a wrap added trendy twist to the dress.
Perhaps a striking display of versatility came from a daring look that combined a vibrant, patterned crop top with a sweeping black skirt. The dramatic flare of the skirt created a commanding stage presence, while the intricate top underscored the brand’s attention to detail and good use of colour.
Eclora Couture’s dresses impressed not only with its sewing techniques but also with its storytelling. Each outfit captured the essence of African culture while reimagining it for a global audience. The brand’s commitment to supporting local artisans added another layer of depth to its already impressive reputation.
The NAFEST fashion swag show attracted a diverse audience, from cultural enthusiasts to fashion aficionados, all of whom were captivated by the perfect amalgamation of tradition and current trends to produce fashion pieces that are timeless. The designs were not just outfits—they were statements of identity, heritage, artistry, and innovation, proving once again that African fashion is not only thriving but can lead on the global stage.
The Amphitheatre’s electric atmosphere and Eclora Couture’s dazzling creations left attendees talking long after the event ended.
