Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Nafisa, other names withheld, for alleged trafficking in ammunition.
The suspect, from Kankara, Katsina State, was apprehended with 220 rounds of ammunition concealed inside a bag of garri at a major motor park in the metropolis. Her arrest followed a tip-off to the intelligence service.

The suspect confessed that the ammunition was sent to her by an officer in Lafia, Nassarawa State, adding that the said officer, whom she had never met, usually sends the consignment to Unguwa Ukwu Motor Park in different quantities for her to pick them up and hand over to persons operating in the forest in Kankara.
The suspect admitted that she had been involved in the illegal trade for just two months adding that within this period she had trafficked consignments worth N5 million. She expressed regret over her involvement in the trade.
