The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has concluded its maiden Mix Master Championship (MMC) with an award ceremony held in Calabar, Cross River State, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The event brought together top DJs from across the country, marking a major milestone for the association. DJAN President, Prince Christian Edeh (DJ Perfect International), praised the competition as a new platform for professionalism in the industry.
He noted the association’s continued growth since hosting Africa’s biggest DJ awards in 2024, describing the MMC as “a benchmark for excellence.”
MMC spokesperson, Mr Salawu Idowu Abiola (DJ Collabo), celebrated the success of what he called “Nigeria’s premier deejay competition,” highlighting the talent displayed by the 16 finalists. The competition had earlier faced a setback when the scheduled grand finale in Ibadan was disrupted due to security concerns. South East Zonal Coordinator and journalist, Olebara Uchechukwu Anthony Chijioke (Cool DJ Blaze McBede), commended the championship for raising industry standards. He also advocated the introduction of DJing as an academic course in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Zonal champions emerged as follows: DJ Zangar International (FCT Abuja) – Winner (₦5 million), DJ Ussy (Kaduna State) – 2nd place (₦2 million) and DJ Palladium (Rivers State) – 3rd place (₦1 million).
Edeh urged government and private sector support, stressing that DJAN is creating jobs, empowering young people, and contributing to Nigeria’s creative export potential.
