Former Big Brother Naija housemate Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, has opened up about his breakup with fellow reality star Bella Okagbue, saying their relationship ended in January 2026.
Sheggz addressed the development in a statement shared on social media early Wednesday, while rejecting allegations that he cheated on Bella or subjected her to abuse during their time together.
The reality TV personality said he had deliberately avoided discussing the relationship publicly because of his respect for his family and his preference for keeping personal matters private.
He said he was compelled to clarify his position after what he described as efforts to damage his reputation.
“I have never spoken publicly on the internet out of respect for my family, and it simply isn’t my nature to do so.
“However, after four years of working hard to build my life and my reputation, I feel it is only fair to clarify my position rather than allow my name or character to be unfairly tarnished,” he wrote.
Sheggz also firmly denied being abusive, describing integrity, family, friendship and faith as important values in his life.
“I am a man who values family, friendship, integrity and my faith. I am a brother, a friend to many and most importantly, I know the values I stand for. I am not an abuser,” he said.
On the circumstances surrounding the breakup, Sheggz said he did not cheat on Bella and had remained single since their separation.
“For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella, and I have been single since January 2026. The relationship ended in January 2026,” he stated.
According to him, the pair attempted to repair their relationship after the breakup, but he eventually decided that unresolved concerns about trust and respect made it difficult to consider marriage.
“We made attempts to reconcile afterwards, but ultimately I came to the conclusion that there were issues of trust and respect that I could not overlook when considering marriage,” he said.
Sheggz also disclosed that 2025 had been a particularly challenging year for him, as he spent substantial periods receiving medical treatment.
“Much of 2025 was an extremely difficult period for me as I spent a significant amount of time in and out of hospital. I am genuinely grateful to be alive after everything I experienced,” he wrote.
He said that after completing treatment and recovering in England, he returned to Nigeria in October 2025 and subsequently became aware of information that made him question the level of honesty in the relationship.
Sheggz maintained that he had been serious about building a future with Bella and had taken steps towards marriage.
“I genuinely wanted the relationship to work. I even went as far as purchasing a ring because I believed in the possibility of a future together,” he said.
Despite the breakup, he said he had no intention of turning the situation into a public confrontation and appealed for both families to be allowed to move forward peacefully.
“I have no desire for hostility or public back-and-forth. I simply want to move forward peacefully with dignity and respect for everyone involved,” he said.
Sheggz concluded by wishing Bella well and expressing hope that everyone affected by the separation would eventually move on peacefully.
“I wish Bella nothing but the best in life, and I hope we can all eventually move on with grace,” he added.
