Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has said state governments are now better funded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, enabling them to implement projects and programmes with direct impact on the people.

Aliyu stated this in Bodinga Local Government Area during the flag-off of the sale of food items at subsidised rates, an initiative of his administration aimed at helping rural dwellers and junior civil servants access essential commodities at affordable prices.

The governor attributed the developmental projects and palliative measures being implemented by his administration to increased funding from the Federal Government.

“All the developmental projects we are executing in the state are as a result of the adequate funding we are receiving from the Federal Government,” he said.

“Similarly, all the palliatives we have been providing to our people, including this sale of food items at subsidized rates, as well as the payment of salaries on the 18th of every month, are also as a result of the adequate funding we receive from the Federal Government.”

Aliyu urged residents to disregard what he described as campaigns of calumny against Tinubu and support the President’s bid for re-election in 2027.

He commended Tinubu’s economic policies, describing them as “one of the best things to have happened to Nigeria,” and assured the President of his administration’s support for his 2027 re-election bid.

On insecurity, the governor said his administration had continued to support security agencies in the fight against armed banditry in the state.

He cited the recent provision of 62 armoured vehicles, in addition to more than 200 patrol vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles earlier provided to security agencies to strengthen their operations.

Aliyu also called on residents to provide security agencies with relevant information and expose informants allegedly supplying bandits with information about developments in rural communities.

“We need to understand that addressing insecurity requires our collective support, and therefore, we must assist the security agencies with relevant information,” he said.

“We must equally expose informants living among us because they provide the bandits with information on happenings in our rural communities.”

The governor appealed to residents to continue praying for an end to insecurity in Sokoto State and the country.
