From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said that recent defections by some party members will not weaken the party’s structure, popularity, or electoral prospects ahead of the August 15, governorship election.
In a statement in Osogbo yesterday, Oyintiloye said defections are common in election periods and do not pose a threat to the APC’s determination to reclaim power in the state.
He insisted the APC is “bigger than any individual or group,” pointing to its long-standing foundation and extensive grassroots presence across wards, polling units, communities, and local government areas. He argued that the “strength of our party resides in the people.”
He added that the party’s morale has been boosted by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the APC governorship candidate, describing him as widely acceptable and credible, with broad support cutting across religion, age groups, and professional backgrounds.

Oyintiloye claimed that there is no community in Osun where the AMBO movement is not gaining momentum, saying that other candidates do not match AMBO’s goodwill and political momentum.
The APC stalwart urged party leaders, elected officials, stakeholders, and members to remain united, intensify grassroots mobilisation, and focus on consultations and reconciliation to strengthen internal cohesion.
He warned against distractions and pessimism, saying the party is fully positioned for victory and reaffirmed confidence that APC will emerge victorious on August 15, 2026.
Oyintiloye also urged the APC leadership to investigate the grievances of some members and take steps to prevent further defections, stressing that every member matters to the party’s electoral success.
