Customs reassures Jigawa govt on trade facilitation, cooperation

The Kano/Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has restated it’s commitment to support the Jigawa State Government through trade facilitation and enhanced cooperation towards supporting local production.

Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana who stated this at the Magatari Border Free Zone during the official  commissioning of the COMTTRA JIGAWA Habiscus processing company performed by Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, pledged support for the project

Comptroller Chana who also expressed the commitment of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi to the promotion of export to address trade imbalances, and support legitimate trade without compromising national revenue and security.

The CAC who congratulated Governor Namadi said the hibiscus plant is an epoch making event that further paves the way for value addition in the hibiscus value chain, further encourage export and creating an avenue for job creation

He said: “ The Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi  has one of the core mandate of his administration, facilitation of legitimate trade and encourage exportation to correct trade imbalance in the country.

“As a service, I wish to reiterate our commitment to support this laudable initiative and at the same time pledge our maximum co-operation for effective take off of this wonderful programme.

“I will like to commend His Excellency for his exceptional passion and commitment to see this dream come to past. We are ready to give our maximum cooperation and support to realize your goals” he said.

The Jigawa State Government and Comttraex Nigeria Limited signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement on 19th April 2022. The collaboration aims to transform the hibiscus value chain in the state, making Jigawa a prominent hub for hibiscus production and processing in Nigeria.

Facilitated by InvestJigawa, the partnership has established a fumigation chamber, a modern cleaning and processing facility for hibiscus flowers, and trade under the brand name “Comttra Jigawa.”

This initiative is expected to unlock the industry’s full potential, driving economic growth and creating opportunities for local farmers and sustainable development in the region.
