CP Abass tasks officers on stopping hoodlums, 40 suspects nabbed

In another development, Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Mr. Wale Abass, tasked his officers and men to go after hoodlums, adding over 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists were arrested. He added that the command recovered in the process, 50 arms and ammunition at Mission Road, Sapele and Umunede axis in Ika Local Government.

He said: “The officers will remain professional, courteous and firm in the discharge of their duties. There will be continuous monitoring and evaluation of the delayed strategies for safety and security before, during and after the Yuletide.

“Police raided an uncompleted building on Mission Road, Sapele. The suspects fled, abandoning a bag containing English pump action and cartridges. The Anti-Crime patrol team stormed a residence at 7, old Agbor Road, Umunede, where three suspects were arrested and recovered one locally made gun.

“Operatives of CP-Decoy Squad arrested three suspected kidnappers on Shell Road, Sapele-Warri. They were in a tricycle with their 45-year-old victims, demanding N2 million ransom. The operatives arrested five suspects in Ethiope East LG. The victim’s vehicle was recovered in Oghara.

“Orerokpe Divisional Office arrested two suspects for their famous string at a church, Eburu Street, Warri. Where musical instruments were carted away from the church. Police swung into action arrested the suspects who are notorious and unrepentant.

“They specialised in burgling churches, shops and homes. Operatives recovered 20 big loud speakers, three generators, 15 large mixers amplifiers, four keyboards, 12 power amplifiers, 10 industrial standing fans. The suspects will soon be charged to court.”

Meanwhile, Abass presented cheques totalling N110 million to families of deceased officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. The cheques issued on behalf of Egbetokun are a part of the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance. They were presented to 33 beneficiaries who are next of kin to the deceased officers.
