Court remands man over alleged cell phone theft

An Osun Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ile-Ife, on Thursday ordered the remand of one Eluwale Abayomi, 23, in prison for allegedly stealing a cell phone valued at N100,000.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 19, 2017 around 2 p.m. at Adedoyin Way, Mayfair, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the accused conspired with others now at large to commit the offence.

He said that the accused stole one Techno C9 handset valued at N100, 000, property of one Olubunmi Martins.

According to him, the offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count-charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Magistrate, Olalekan Ijiyode, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until June 30, for hearing. (NAN)
