Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on his re-election.
This was conveyed in an X post on Sunday morning.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke, who is the Accord Party candidate, winner with victory in 19 out of the 30 local government areas in the state.
The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, declared the result of the poll at about 7:24 am on Sunday.
He said Adeleke got a total of 511,067 votes to secure victory.
Reacting, Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), said Adeleke’s victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box.
He said, “I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.
“His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box. I commend the people for their passion and peaceful participation.
“I wish Governor Adeleke continued success as he continues to serve them.”
