Pastor in charge of the women ministry and wife of the Senior Pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Rock of Ages Parish, Zone 7, Mrs. Nkechi Amah, has urged Christian women in Nigeria to trust in God, remain strong and courageous in the face of the current challenges in the country.
Amah, who gave the charge during the annual Good Women Week held recently, with the theme “Flowing in His Favour,” stressed that this was the time to be positive and speak the words of God.
She noted that there was nothing too difficult for God to do and, no matter the situation, God is able and ever ready to turn it around for the best, in as much as the people make positive confessions. She admonished women to always maintain a good relationship with God to ensure success in their endeavours.
Amah, who highlighted the roles of women in nation-building, also advised them to always contribute their quota to national development. She explained that the essence of the event was to seek divine intervention for families, minister to the underprivileged and help women fulfill their God-given abilities, especially in this period when the country is facing a series of challenges.
“Also, our visit to three orphanages in Lagos: Beautiful Gate Homes, Tedi community; Life Changer Privilege Home, Festac Town; and SOSAID Homes Ago-Palace, was to show love, regardless of the economic crunch. We had to reach out to them. The welfare of these orphans is equally important,” she said.
Amah said the task of repositioning the country required the prayers and support of devoted Christian women.
She said the Church has, over the years, contributed to the wellbeing of the umderprivileged in the country, especially in the areas of education, health, shelter and food, among others.
“Our support for women and the less-privileged is the core area of our work with God. Although cost of commodities has hindered smooth business operations, I urge women not to relent in entrusting their ways and activities to divine direction and assistance.God will grant us peace and wisdom to handle our home,” she said.
Amah said as a church they have done some empowerment scheme for women to engage them. She stressed the need for government at all levels to be committed to women empowerment to enable them contribute to national economic development.
She called on women to be good planners in order to always succeed at the homefront and their endeavours.
On her part, the president of the women’s group, Deaconess Felicia Ezeh, advised women not to downplay the importance of building bridges. She urged them to prioritize building bridges among themselves to enable them deliver their primary role to society.
The week-long programme attracted the presence of the pastor in charge of Lagos Province 34 (RCCG), Mrs. Shola Balogun.
Balogun, who spoke on the topic “Flowing in His Favour,” said Nigerians/believers should know that the word of God in their mouths is the power of God in their tongues hence they should use the tongue to confess positive things about the country.
The cleric harped on the need for women to remain committed to the welfare of their people, just like Esther in the Bible. “Take a lead, the devil killed Esther’s parents and set in motion another plan to wipe off her entire race but Esther worked hard to surmount the security challenges confronting the people. Women need to emulate Esther and act right,” she admonished.
Reading from the Book of Isaiah 40:31, the cleric said words are powerful. “God is the one that rescues. As women, they should learn to surrender to God regardless.
Nigerians should continue to pray for Nigerian leaders and support their efforts at improving the standard of living of Nigerians.”
She expressed optimism that the same way Esther led her country men out of Haman’s trap, we would come out stronger from the present situation.
The image maker of the group, Mrs Blessing Jacobs, emphasized the need for parents to always bless and not cursed their children, saying the words of many parents are responsible for the youths we have today.
She, however, stressed the need for the government to address the increasing number of unemployed youths in the country.
Highlights of the event were cultural performance, dance, music, outreach, film show and donation of food items to the underprivileged and three orphanages in Lagos.
