Nigeria Bricklayers Association (NBA) has pleaded with BUA Cement to further consider South West market on price reduction of its product.

The association, in a statement by its President, Oyebamiji Taye Dauda, said despite BUA Cement’s announcement on price reduction, people in South West were yet to benefit from the promo due to company’s factory distance to the region’s market.

He said the price disparity has caused his members in the region  unwarranted hardship and trust issue between them and their clients.

“I want to appeal to the Federal Government to look into this matter, the management of BUA Cement should also give consideration to final consumers in South West. It is becoming an embarrassing issue, our clients don’t want to pay the actual price anymore, they claim the cost has been reduced, whereas the particular product they are referring has not got to our market here in the south.

“I recently visited the office of the cement producer in Lagos, we explained the price disparity to them, but they explained to us that they have two factories at the moment, one in Sokoto and the other in Edo, but the cost of transporting the product down to the market is high, that is why the cost is still high in the market.

“We thank the cement manufacturer for the strong initiative in alleviating the pains of stakeholders by reducing the cost, however, we also appeal to other manufacturers to take a cue from the initiative of BUA to avoid the drought of artisans being witnessed in the sector,” the association said.
