Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has agreed a season-long loan move to Eredivisie giants Ajax from Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign, according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano.
Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk last summer after an outstanding campaign that established him as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.
However, the Nigerian international struggled to replicate that form in England.
The 25-year-old found consistency difficult to come by, scoring six goals and providing two assists assist in 38 appearances across all competitions as Wolves endured a disappointing season that ended in relegation to the Championship.
His difficult campaign fuelled speculation over his future at Molineux, with reports suggesting the striker could leave the club in search of regular first-team football.
The Nigeria international had previously been linked with moves to Trabzonspor and Fiorentina during the current summer transfer window.
The uncertainty intensified in recent weeks following reports of a training ground disagreement after Arokodare was allegedly instructed to train away from the first-team squad.
The striker later denied claims surrounding the incident, insisting he had remained professional throughout his time at the club.
Ajax have now reached an agreement with Wolves to sign the Nigerian forward on loan for the 2026/2027 season, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.
Romano added that Ajax will cover Arokodare’s full salary during the loan spell, while the agreement includes a €22 million non-mandatory purchase option.
Meanwhile, Wolves will also receive a loan fee, as well as performance-related bonuses based on Ajax’s qualification for European competitions.
The move represents an opportunity for Arokodare to revive his career in the Eredivisie, having previously enjoyed a successful spell in Belgium before moving to the Premier League.
