The Apostolic Faith Church in Nigeria has declared that the fortunes of the country can be restored if Nigerians would ask for divine forgiveness of sins through prayers and supplications.

Speaking at its annual Camp Meeting Concert held at Crawford University, Ogun State, the District Superintendent (West and Central Africa) of the church, Reverend Isaac Adigun said Nigeria’s multidimensional problems are more of spiritual, and only God can fix it, on the condition that Nigerians must return to God with broken and repentant hearts.

With the theme, “Liberation”, Adigun gave instances in the Holy Bible where Jesus Christ called on His people to confess and repent of their sins as a condition for their restoration and progress of the land.

“I have said it often times. The major problem that we have in our country is sin. So we need to ask God for forgiveness of sins. Only God can heal our land”

Adigun who encouraged Nigerians not to give up on the country, expressed optimism that sooner than later, the socio-economic and political woes devastating the country would be a thing of the past, if Nigerians across divide would acknowledge their sinful ways and call on God for mercy.

He reminded Nigerians what the Holy Bible says in Proverbs 14 vs 34: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach.

“When God promised Abraham a child, he didn’t consider the deadness of his own body nor his wife’s womb, he believed in God’s ŵords, and it came to pass, so let us not lose hope. I believe in prayers, God is able to deliver us if we return to Him genuinely.

“There are instances across the world worse than what Nigeria is experiencing now. The people came back to themselves and stood in the gap in repentance and prayers. And God answered them. So I’m sure that the Almighty will answer us if we return to Him in truth,” he assured.

Similarly, the music director of the church, Dotun Ewumi, added that another unique way to draw God’s attention is through praise and worship, in recognition of God’s supremacy and sovereignty.

The music director cited instances in the holy book where ugly situations turned around for good after offering sacrifices of praise and worship to the Almighty God,

“The ugly situation in Nigeria can change for good if we acknowledge the personality of the Almighty God. You can see how we dramatised the theme of this programme during our music concert. All manner of people with different problems came to the Lord our saviour, and they were all liberated. So prayers, worship, and giving praises to God through songs will move God to touch the hearts of the leaders to do better,” he affirmed.

The programme was attended by corporate leaders, captains of industry, and other dignitaries from Africa and beyond seeking God’s intervention over the bitter situation in Nigeria and Africa.
