The United Kingdom Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) will hold the party’s congress that will usher in new leaders.
The congress, according to the organisers will hold between June 27 and 29 in London. They noted that proper arrangements have been instituted to ensure a free and fair election. The delegates of the party, according to the organisers, were drawn from all the caucuses that make up the chapter. “No fewer than 28 members will be contesting for elective positions which include the Chairman, Deputy National Chairman (North and South), Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Deputy Publicity Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer ,Youth Leader, Welfare Secretary, and Legal Officer, among others. National Secretary of the party, Senator Dr Ajibola Basiru will other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), including the National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Argungu to the event. In January 2024, a 22-member Interim Committee was appointed to oversee the affairs of the chapter, Hon. Tunde Doherty as Chairman and Hon. Joseph Adebola as Secretary.
Speaking on the arrangements put in place for the success of the congress, Councillor Tunde Ajisola, a member of the Interim committee, said the congress will be a historic moment for the UK chapter of the APC. “The coming UK congress is key to the success of the APC as a party, because it is the very first Nigerian party congress outside the shores of Nigeria, after successfully adding Diaspora chapter to APC amended constitution 2022,” Ajisola stated.
