APC trying to militarise Osun election – Accord Party spokesperson

Pelumi-Olajengbesi

The spokesperson for the Osun State Accord Party campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to militarise the state’s governorship election, alleging that the opposition party is resorting to intimidation after losing public support.

Speaking on Channel TV Politics Today, Olajengbesi claimed the APC had run out of convincing messages for the people of Osun and was instead relying on violence and the perceived backing of federal security agencies.

“Why you have this issue of violence and thuggery in Osun State is simply because the APC has lost track of what to say to the people of Osun State, and they try to militarise the election, believing that they have the support of the Nigerian police and the federal might,” he said.

Despite the allegation, the Accord Party campaign spokesperson commended the conduct of the Nigeria Police Force in the state, saying the security agency had demonstrated professionalism.

“But interestingly, we are super impressed by what the police are doing today in Osun State,” Olajengbesi added.

He maintained that the party remained confident that Osun voters would decide the outcome of the election through the ballot rather than intimidation or the deployment of force.
