Fresh uncertainty has continued to surround the political future of 12 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly who failed to secure return tickets during the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, with many of the affected lawmakers being ranking members and principal officers of the Assembly.
Among the prominent lawmakers who lost out are the Majority Leader, Noheem Adams, representing Eti Osa Constituency I, Chief Whip Fatai Mojeed, and Deputy Chief Whip Setonji David. Others include Nollywood actor turned lawmaker Desmond Elliot of Surulere Constituency I, Gbolahan Ogunleye of Ikorodu Constituency I, Lanre Afinni of Lagos Island I, Stephen Ogundipe of Oshodi/Isolo I, Obafemi Saheed of Kosofe II, Bonu Solomon of Badagry II, Emmanuel Oloto of Ifako Ijaiye II, Jubreel Kareem of Agege II and Apata Samuel of Somolu Constituency II.
Their defeat has since sparked tension within party circles, with allegations of intimidation, political blackmail and manipulation trailing the exercise, as some of the affected lawmakers and their supporters raised concerns over alleged harassment and undue influence by political power blocs within the party.

The outcome has sharply divided stakeholders within the Lagos APC, with conflicting narratives emerging over the credibility and transparency of the process.
While some party loyalists described the outcome as a reflection of internal democracy and the desire for fresh faces, others insisted that the exercise was heavily influenced by entrenched political interests determined to reshuffle the Assembly ahead of the next legislative term.
Political observers say the development may alter the power dynamics within the Lagos Assembly and reshape alignments within the ruling party in the months ahead.
As of the time of filing this report, none of the affected lawmakers had publicly announced their next line of action, leaving party members and supporters speculating on whether they would challenge the outcome, seek reconciliation within the APC or quietly accept their political fate.
