President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Secretary.
The list of members of the campaign council was released by the State House and signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, setting the stage for the ruling party’s mobilisation ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be Vice Chairman. APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as Vice Chairman.
Uzodimma’s appointment places the Imo governor at the centre of the party’s national campaign structure, while Yari, a former governor and influential APC figure, will coordinate the day-to-day activities of the campaign as Director-General.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
The President will be supported by a council of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician, Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed Deputy Directors-General for the South and North.
They will work with Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, in coordinating the two geopolitical blocs.
Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration as Deputy Director-General.
Also returning to a key campaign role is James Abiodun Faleke, who served prominently in the 2022/2023 APC presidential campaign. He has been appointed Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will coordinate zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were named secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
In the legal directorate, Muiz Adeyemi Banire will serve as Director, with Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members include Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema; Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
The media and strategic communication directorate will be coordinated by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, working alongside former presidential spokesman Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka have been appointed coordinating Deputy Directors in the media directorate.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries.
Segun Dada has been retained as Director of New Media, a role he also occupied during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of the New Media Directorate.
The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
President Tinubu has directed members of the campaign council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
He also urged leaders of the various directorates to bring on board other party members who may not have been formally listed, stressing that their contributions would be crucial to the campaign.
The President, in a message accompanying the announcement, urged the campaign team to make the administration’s record the centrepiece of its campaign.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.
“We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”
He charged the campaign team to “confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” while urging members to defeat opposition forces seeking to return the country to what he described as the past.
The unveiling of the council formally moves the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign machinery into a more structured phase, with the party now relying on a combination of serving political leaders, former governors, lawmakers, media strategists and members of its previous campaign team to prosecute Tinubu’s re-election bid.
