Another victim of the Monday fire incident at the Canadian High Commission, Abuja, is dead.

A source familiar with the development told Daily Sun that one of the injured staff died yesterday.

The injured staff was, however, not named, including the hospital the victim passed away.

“One of those injured staff of Canadian embassy (high commission) died today in the hospital, making them three now,” the source said.

Recall that an explosion from the generator room of the Canadian High Commission, had on Monday, claimed two lives, with two others injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while condoling with the Canadian High Commission on Tuesday, confirmed the development.

The Ministry said the unfortunate fire incident that occurred in the premises of the Canadian High Commission on Monday, November 6, 2023, left two persons, a contractor and a locally engaged staff of the mission dead, with two others injured.

“The Ministry extends its condolences to the High Commissioner, Members of Staff of the Mission and the families of the deceased and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Spokesperson, Francisca Omayuli said.
