Ezi Umueri community in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Wednesday, elected Chief Cosmos Odi Morah as its first traditional ruler after the creation of the community as an autonomous community in 2015.

Igwe Morah emerged, unopposed, being the only candidate who picked the form and fulfilled other requirements as detailed by the Igweship committee.

He was subsequently installed by the Traditional Prime Minister of the larger Umueri community, Onowu (Chief) Mike Ekweonu, the Onowu Iyaselle XIII.

According to the new monarch’s media assistant, Mr. Obika Chidiebele, Ezi Umueri was one of the seven new communities created and recognised by the Umueri General Assembly, in line with their Constitution as amended in 2015. He clarified, however, that Ezi Umueri was still part of the larger Umueri Okebo town.

The Traditional Prime Minister of the larger Umueri Okebo town, Onowu Mike Ekweonu, while crowning the new monarch, prayed for him for long life and wisdom to lead his subjects.

Responding, Igwe Morah, pledged to use his resources to work for the progress of the community. “I pray God to endow me with the wisdom to lead you to greater heights in Jesus name,” he prayed.
