The Niger Delta Rebirth Organisation has firmly dismissed allegations that the administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dennis Otuaro, is involved in destabilising peace efforts in the Niger Delta.

In a statement by the group’s Spokesman, Eregbene Pascal, the claims made by the Warri Media Group were described as “false, misleading, and baseless”.

The Warri Media Group had accused Otuaro of plotting the removal of Edith Eyesan, Executive Vice President, Upstream of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), and inciting unrest in the region.

Pascal stressed that Otuaro has remained focused on delivering the PAP’s core mandate of peacebuilding and reintegration.

“Saying he’s working for peace is merely acknowledging his role. His actions, including participating in commemorations like Isaac Boro Day, are geared toward unifying and stabilizing the region”, the statement read in part.

The group also criticized efforts to drag First Lady Oluremi Tinubu into the controversy, calling it a ploy for sympathy.

“Mr Otuaro has always supported the Tinubu administration and is committed to national development”, Pascal noted.

Highlighting key achievements under Otuaro’s leadership, the group cited reduced regional tensions, improved collaboration with stakeholders, timely disbursement of entitlements, and enhanced empowerment programmes for ex-agitators.

According to the Niger Delta Rebirth Organisation, the past year under Otuaro has been one of the most impactful in PAP’s 14-year history.

“Why we are not unmindful of the shenanigans of those who are jolted by the performance of Mr Otuaro since his appointment to spearhead the all-important intervention to rectify the mistakes of the past, we like to say that the issue of development shouldn’t be ethnicised.

Ordinarily, we would not have bothered to reply to these jesters but for record purposes.

“Saying that Mr Otuaro has been working tirelessly to achieve the mandate of peace and stability in the Niger Delta region is akin to praising someone for what he is expected to do.

“To every peace-loving individual, the issue of joining the Ijaw nation to celebrate Isaac Boro day should be seen with a spectacle of peacebuilding and not injurious to anyone.

“In fact, the mandate of the PAP includes peace building among communities in the Niger Delta”, the group emphasised.
