The Association of Motion and Still Photographic Models of Nigeria (AMASPMON), under the leadership of its President, Onamakinde Akinola, has reiterated its commitment to championing the rights and welfare of Nigerian models.

AMASPMON, a pioneering force in the Nigerian modeling industry, is dedicated to addressing long-standing issues such as unfair compensation, unethical practices, and lack of industry standards.

“Our mission is to elevate the status of Nigerian models and create a more equitable and sustainable industry,” said  Akinola.

“By advocating for fair compensation, providing training and development opportunities, and promoting ethical practices, we aim to empower our members and ensure their success.”

The association advocates for fair remuneration and transparent contracts to protect the rights of models as well as providing training programs and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of its members.

The President explained the association collaborates with brand owners, advertising agencies, and other industry stakeholders to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.

“AMASPMON promotes ethical conduct and combats practices like brand prostitution to maintain the integrity of the industry.

Nollywood actor and model, Arinze Okonkwo, aims to elevate the industry by advocating for fair compensation, promoting professionalism, and increasing visibility.

Okonkwo, who serves as AMASPMON’s PRO, explained, “We’re here to make an impact. We want to ensure that models receive the recognition and remuneration they deserve.”

“The association’s recent partnership with Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) us a significant step towards achieving these goals. By collaborating with industry leaders, AMASPMON aims to create a more sustainable and rewarding future for Nigerian models”, he stated.

Adetoye Adesanya, the association’s treasurer, outlined a bold vision for the future of modeling in Nigeria. “Our primary goals are to protect model rights, rebrand the industry as a creative force, and modernize industry practices,” he said.

“In the next two years, we expect to see a transformed modeling industry,” Adesanya stated. “A new generation of well-trained and professional models, stronger collaborations between models, brands, and industry stakeholders, and innovative solutions that will elevate the industry.”

Collaborating, the group Financial Secretary, Chinyere Eden said, “Historically, models have often been undervalued, receiving minimal pay for significant work. AMASPMON aims to address this issue by advocating for fair wages and working conditions. We believe that by uniting models and raising awareness, we can create a more sustainable and equitable future for the industry.”

Continuing, Eden asserted, “Ultimately, we want to establish modeling as a respected profession, where models can support themselves and their families. By empowering models and demanding fair treatment, we can reshape the industry and ensure that models are no longer exploited.”
