The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has lauded the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, for upholding the legacy of discipline, excellence, and commitment to producing high-quality manpower for the Nigerian Armed Forces over the past 71 years.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour and Reviewing Officer at the 71st anniversary celebration of the school, held at the RSM Zakari Kumasi Parade Ground, Air Marshal Abubakar described the occasion as a homecoming, being an alumnus of the institution.
He noted that NMS has consistently distinguished itself through outstanding academic and military performance, a tradition that has earned it recognition across the country.
According to him, the institution has produced numerous senior military officers, including himself, which is a testament to its high standards and enduring values.
The Chief of Air Staff urged current NMS students to remain disciplined and committed to their training, emphasizing that those virtues remain the cornerstone of the school’s success.
Also speaking at the event, President of the NMS Ex-Boys Association, Lieutenant Commander Sunday Ngegu (rtd), commended Air Marshal Abubakar for his unwavering support to the school and the association.
He encouraged other members of the alumni body to emulate the Chief of Air Staff’s dedication.
As a part of the 71st anniversary celebration, Air Marshal Abubakar commissioned several newly completed projects at the school, including the Cook House, a renovated dining hall, and a new medical support building.
The event was witnessed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, commandants of various military formations, and the NMS Commandant, among other dignitaries.
