Medlitics Limited has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital health platform aimed at improving the management of chronic diseases across Africa.

The platform, known as Medlitics, is designed to connect patients, healthcare providers, hospitals and insurance companies within a single digital ecosystem, enabling continuous monitoring and proactive healthcare interventions.

According to the company, the solution addresses long-standing challenges associated with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, which are often managed through periodic hospital visits and self-reported health records.

The platform integrates with wearable health devices and applications, including Samsung Health, Google Fit, Apple Health and Fitbit, as well as Bluetooth-enabled medical devices such as glucometers and blood pressure monitors. Health data from these devices is automatically synchronised every 15 minutes to create a real-time health profile for users.

Founder of Medlitics, Michael Fasere, said the platform was developed to bridge the gap between daily health management and clinical care.

“Our goal is to build healthcare that truly works for everyone, moving beyond the walls of traditional waiting rooms. Chronic diseases require daily attention, not just periodic checkups. By connecting everyday health data with clinical oversight, doctors can identify trends early and intervene before minor issues become serious medical emergencies,” he said.

A key feature of the platform is its automated monitoring system, which operates round-the-clock. The system analyses patient health data and sends instant alerts to both patients and physicians whenever vital signs such as blood sugar, heart rate or blood pressure exceed predefined thresholds.

The company said the platform delivers an average doctor response time of less than two minutes and maintains an alert accuracy rate of 98 per cent.

Medlitics also incorporates an AI-powered virtual health assistant called Meddy, which provides users with personalised health insights, trend summaries and evidence-based recommendations. In addition, the platform supports virtual consultations through encrypted messaging and video services, enabling patients to connect with healthcare professionals remotely.

To enhance access to healthcare financing, the platform includes an in-app wallet that supports multiple currencies and provides access to health insurance products through partner networks.

Built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), the solution is compliant with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), features end-to-end encryption and can be installed on smartphones, tablets and computers without requiring downloads from app stores.

The company disclosed that more than 2,400 people have joined its waitlist, while thousands of patients and over 800 verified doctors are already active on the platform.

Medlitics said it expects the platform to help reduce healthcare costs, improve patient outcomes and ease the burden of chronic illnesses on families across Nigeria and other African countries.

The platform is available free of charge for patients and healthcare professionals at the entry level.
