Afro-Western spectacle: The last Rodeo rides into Lagos with music, culture, and purpose

On September 6,  Lagos will witness an extraordinary blend of art, culture, and impact as The Last Rodeo: The Final Ride of the Black Cowboys takes center stage at Balmoral Hall, Victoria Island.

Presented by Don Crucifixto, the event is not merely a concert but an immersive celebration of Afro-Western identity, storytelling, and social transformation.

From the moment guests arrive, they’ll be drawn into a world that fuses African creativity with Western cowboy flair. The experience begins at the gates, where an illuminated tunnel leads to a vibrant, cinematic Western-style town.

Here, every detail is curated for interactivity and engagement—fashion boutiques, pop-up salons, saloons, and even a functioning Rodeo Bank where guests can trade Naira for event-exclusive currency.

Attendees can enjoy a mini horse ranch, BBQ grills, Afro-fusion cuisine, art galleries, gaming zones, wellness lounges, and family-friendly activities. This immersive setting also provides space for brand activations, product showcases, and artistic installations, making the event a hub of entertainment and cultural commerce.

Before the concert kicks off, guests will walk the Legacy Walkway, a powerful visual tribute to African music legends, Don Crucifixto’s journey, and the humanitarian work of the Life Is Us Foundation. The walkway sets the emotional tone for what promises to be a powerful evening.

The Grand Concert Arena will then come alive with performances by some of Africa’s biggest talents, including Don Crucifixto, Johnny Drille, Fave, Sean Dampte, Fola, Wetly, and Joey Benks, with music by DJ Pretty Play and DJ Bubu. Popular media personalities Dotun and Ilo will host the night, under the expert direction of legendary show producer Edi Lawani.

At its core, The Last Rodeo is a benefit event. A portion of proceeds will go to the Life Is Us Foundation, which provides scholarships to over 300 underserved students, mobile health clinics for rural communities, and emergency food and hygiene kits to over 1,200 families.

Supported by media giants like MTV Base, Beat FM, Classic FM, Naija FM, and Lagos Talks, The Last Rodeo is also set to expand its reach globally with a forthcoming documentary series that captures the event’s cultural and humanitarian impact.

This September, The Last Rodeo invites Lagos and the world, to witness one final ride that will leave an unforgettable legacy.
