• hails Wike’s infrastructure strides
From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja
President Bola Tinubu on Friday said his administration is “opening up Abuja to opportunity” through targeted road investments, as he commissioned Collector Roads 01 and 02 in Mabushi District — a project he said will ease congestion, improve connectivity and spur economic activity across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking through Vice‑President Kashim Shettima at the Mabushi Bus Terminal link to Ahmadu Bello Way, he described the new roads as more than asphalt, calling them “veins of commerce” that will cut travel time and eliminate long‑standing traffic bottlenecks in the area.
“For many years, movement in this part of the capital was a struggle — needless detours and time lost that should have been spent at work, at school or with family. Today, that changes,” the President said, adding that the project embodies the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Tinubu urged residents to protect the infrastructure, thanking them for patience during construction and commending FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for delivering the project. “I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it and ran with it,” he told the minister, attributing the visible transformation across the capital to focused leadership and timely federal support.
Wike, on his part, credited Tinubu’s backing for the rapid pace of works and said the commissioning is part of a 31‑day rollout marking the administration’s third anniversary. The minister said roads remain the “bedrock of development,” pointing to a surge in real estate and investor interest around Mabushi since construction began.

“Look at this road and look at the houses around it. Investors are coming because infrastructure has arrived,” Wike said, rebutting critics who argue public funds should prioritise other needs.
Minister of State for the FCT Dr. Mariya Mahmoud described Tinubu as the driving force behind the Renewed Hope Agenda and hailed Wike as “a master builder” whose determination has converted plans into visible projects. She called on residents to safeguard the new infrastructure and to continue supporting the government’s drive to build an inclusive, world‑class capital.
