Amadeus University, Amizi in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has given some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), in the North, scholarships to study in the university.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Samuel Nzotta, during a pre-matriculation press briefing on the university campus.

Nzotta, who assured that details of the collaboration with UNDP would be given during the second matriculation ceremony of the university, said it was intended to give succour and guarantee the future for the IDPs.

The vice chancellor said the university had instituted an effective quality assurance system that would ensure that academic standards put in place did not only meet the National Universities Commission (NUC) benchmarks and industry standards, but also global best practices.

“The university has fully developed the curriculum of all the 22 programmes being run under seven faculties. The programme development was done in line with the NUC Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS),” Nzotta revealed.

He stated that the institution had secured approval from NUC to commence three new professional programmes, Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), Law (LLB), and Doctor of Pharmacy.

“The approval followed a rigorous assessment of the university’s human and material resources by the NUC. With the addition of the new programmes, Amadeus University now runs 22 NUC-approved programmes under seven faculties,” Nzotta revealed.

He added that the university has already admitted its first set of MBBS students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The vice chancellor of the university also announced that the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria conducted an advisory visit in October 2025, and gave approval for the Nursing Science programme.
