Tor Tiv and the Chairman Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, Orcivirigh Prof James Ayatse and his Idoma counterpart, John Elaigwu Odogbo, have urged the victims of killer herdsmen and the people of Benue State to remain faithful as they await the decision of the federal government in addressing the security challenge confronting the state. The two paramount rulers who stated this while addressing the Yelwata community over the brutal murder of more than 200 innocent people in the area, reiterated not to rest on their oars until the killer herdsmen terrorising Benue State are brought to justice.
They expressed hope that the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Benue State shall produce positive results that can ameliorate their plight, saying, God who gave the land which is the subject of contention, cannot forsake them and allow the enemies to seize it, but can also avenge the murder of their innocent relations. They stressed the need for Benue people to unite with a view to confronting the enemies who are determined to take over the fertile land bequeathed to them by the ancestors.
In their welcome address to the paramount rulers, Guma Local Government Chairman, represented by his deputy, Hon Tersoo Veem; Hon Cletus Upaa, and Tor Lobi, Moses Anageende commended the Tor Tiv for the fatherly role he played by boldly challenging President Tinubu to stop planned attacks on his innocent subjects.
They expressed joy that the visit of the Tor Tiv to Yelwata has brought respite to the whole community, saying it was a demonstration of a caring father.
The Tor Tiv and his wife with some first class chiefs, who accompanied them went round the Yelwata market and saw the burnt remains of the victims murdered by the killer herdsmen.
