An officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, Mr. Seinde Abolusoro, has been crushed by a commercial driver in Akure, the state capital.
Abolusoro, who was said to be on duty, was allegedly standing by the road side at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA ) main gate when he met his untimely death.
The driver of the ill-fated car, identified as Sola Olagunju, was said to be coming from Ilesa to Akure and hit the deceased while trying to avoid a parked articulated truck.
It was learnt that the driver of the bus veered off the road to where the FRSC officer was standing by the road side.
However, another version indicated that the driver slept off on the wheels before ramming into the late officer; at the road side.
Authorities of the FRSC in the state declined to comment on the development.
But, spokesman of the state Police Command, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect is already in their custody while investigation is ongoing; to determine whether or not he would be charged to court.
The late Abolusoro, said to be in his late 30s left a wife and two children behind.
