The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has announced the winners of the national Qur’anic recitation competition recently held in Kebbi State.

Secretary-General of NSCIA, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, in a statement on Thursday, explained that the competition, which featured six categories, was organised by the accredited agent of the Council on all Musabaqah-related matters, i.e., the Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, on behalf of the entire Ummah in Nigeria.

The result, released by NSCIA in Abuja, indicated that, in the memorisation of the whole Qur’an with Tafsir and Qira’at, Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim from Gombe State came first in the female category, while Bukhari Sunusi Idris from Kano State came first in the male category.

In the memorisation of the whole Qur’an with Tafsir, Khadijah Aliyu Ubam from Nasarawa State came first in the female category, while Bilal Hamza Abubakar from Zamfara State came first in the male category.

Similarly, in the memorisation of 60 HIZBS of the glorious Qur’an, Khadija Ibrahim Aliyu from Kaduna State emerged first in the female category, while Abdussalam Rabiu from Katsina State emerged first in the male category.

In the memorisation of 30 HIZBS of the glorious Qur’an, Aishatu Suleiman Isgogo from Kebbi State emerged first in the female category, while Lawal Jafar from Sokoto State emerged first in the male category.

In the memorisation of 10 HIZBS of the glorious Qur’an & Tangheem, Sumayyah Umar Sheik from Niger State emerged the winner, while Mahmud Bashar from Jigawa State emerged the winner in the male category.

In the memorisation of two consecutive HIZBS of the glorious Qur’an, Fatima Bello Abdullahi from Cross River State emerged winner in the female category, while Mohammed Sani Hassan from Ebonyi State emerged winner in the male category.

There were also first and second runners-up in all six categories, and NSCIA affirmed the exclusive eligibility of the winners as the qualified candidates to represent Nigeria at international competitions in their respective categories.

The Council appreciated all participants in the Musabaqah and the donors of vehicles, pilgrimage, and other highly valued prizes for the competition winners, praying that Allah will reward them abundantly.

The Council said it expects that all the winners will continue to be worthy ambassadors of Islam and the Ummah in both learning and character.
