The chairman of Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Onoriode Isaiah Esiovwa has reaffirmed his commitment to deliver more people-oriented projects across the local government as he inspects some ongoing renovation works in the council secretariat.

Esiovwa, who is also the state ALGON chairman said he thanked God for keeping everyone alive. He said: “As the chairman of Okpe Local Government Area, I have embarked on some meaningful projects inside the council.

“We are carrying out full renovations of the old council secretariat. It includes new roof, windows, doors, toilet facilities, tiles, septic tanks, ceilings and flooring, as well as security protections. It is a complete renovation. We are working day and night to meet up with our target.

“It is a very big project. It’s not a small job and apart from the old secretariat building, we also embarked on full renovation of the legislative chamber and all its offices, ranging from ceilings, floors, doors, windows, toilet facilities to furniture and air conditioning systems just to make the councillors and their staff comfortable,” he said.

Speaking further, he said: “The Perimeter fencing at the front of the secretariat is another one. As the old one was removed due to the dualisation of the council road by the Delta State Government, it’s almost completed. We are also going to design a new gate with a security house, interlocking work at the front of the fence down to the drains to avoid growing weeds.”

The National Organising Secretary of ALGON stated that the projects they were carrying out now have so many significant values to his administration as the old secretariat had been transformed to a modern one where the staff can now work effectively.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, Oghenetega Odoh, said they were impressed with the work done by the council chairman. “It shows he has the council at heart.

We can now work effectively in a more conducive environment as he has transformed the council secretariat,” he stated.

Those in the chairman’s entourage were Mr John E. Ofofo, Head of Personnel Management (HPM); Dan Etioyibo, Head of Works Department; Mrs Elohor Ako, TLG; Endurance Odebala, chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE); Councillors; Supervisors and staff among others.
