Ogun State Government has assured the concerns of 500 pastors, who recently called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to fulfill his promise of rehabilitating the Agbado-Oke Aro-Akute Road.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in the state, Ade Akinsanya, in a statement he issued on Friday, was responding to a video clip made by the clerics, which went viral on the social media, urging the governor to fulfill his re-election promises.
According to him, the state government has already made significant progress on the road in question, emphasizing that the state government has consistently prioritised road construction, having completed over 600 kilometres of roads since taking office in 2019.
Akinsanya stated further that half of the Alagbole-Sango Ota road has already been completed, while the remaining section is included in this year’s budget.
“This particular road, Alagbole to Sango Ota, is about 32 km, and the government has already done 16 km out of it. More importantly, it is also captured in the 2024 budget.
He acknowledged a slight delay in executing the project, citing budgetary constraints and a surge in construction material costs. However, he assured the public that efforts were underway to address the challenges.
The commissioner, who called for cooperation from residents of the state, highlighted the importance of fulfilling tax obligations to support the government’s efforts in delivering on public infrastructure.
Akinsanya also urged the public to refrain from resorting to blackmail and character assassination. He advocated collective efforts to revive the economy. He added that paying taxes promptly is a crucial way for citizens to support the government in overcoming economic challenges and achieving progress.
