Gunmen suspected to be armed herdsmen have killed two people in Ukpogo and Odugbo communities of Apa Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State.

Daily Sun gathered that the incident took place on Monday.

A source from the area, who didn’t want to be named, told newsmen that “herdsmen killed two people from Odugbo, along the Edikwu Ukpogo and Odugbo communities. Two other people are still missing.”

A resident, Barr, Eche Akpoko, said: “It has been confirmed that Godwin Ela and Danladi Edoh, both of Odugbo were killed by herdsmen along Ukpogo Edikwu on March 4, 2024.”

He called on the Federal Government and the state to come to their aid, lamenting that their people were being killed and others displaced on a daily basis. Meanwhile, suspected herdsmen had also machetted a woman at her farm in Agatu in Agatu LGA.

Locals from the area said herdsmen, on Monday,    attacked a young lady named Oduda Oloche, a native of Odejo Community in Agatu LGA of Benue State with a machete.

The source said Oloche is currently battling between life and death in the hospital.

“This is the time for the Benue State and Federal Government to swing into genuine actions and channel security forces to affected areas in the state, rather than paying less attention to these barbaric attacks on Benue citizens.”

When contacted, the Police Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to get any report on the incident.
